Herbarium began with a question I kept asking myself: why do our modern routines overflow with chemicals, when our ancestors thrived with simplicity? Watching my grandmother prepare her beauty rituals straight from our garden—crushing Hibiscus flowers into a paste for lustrous hair, cooling the skin with Red Sandalwood and Ashwagandha drawn from earthen pots, and telling me the stories of queens whose glow came not from powders, but from roots, flowers, and rituals passed down for centuries—beauty that was simple, sustainable, and deeply connected to the Earth.

Where Heritage Meets Science

Years later, working as a Biomedical Scientist, I began to see the science hidden in those traditions—how the skin barrier relies on lipids, humectants, and antioxidants to stay resilient, and how botanicals soothe inflammation and support renewal.

I realised that these ancient rituals weren’t myths—they were early chemistry in skin science.
